Milo, the Magician

With eight years of experience in magic and four years of experience doing professional shows, Milo has been hired to perform a huge variety of shows from intimate backyard parties, to elementary and middle school end-of-year celebrations, to university functions, to large corporate events. With personal mentoring from other professional magicians (including some who have been featured on Penn & Teller Fool Us), and also with experience himself mentoring new magicians at the University of Utah's Magicians Performance Club, Milo has a deep knowledge of the art of magic and excels at everything from close-up sleight of hand card magic to interactive comedy stage magic. Above all else, for Milo, magic is not about the magician performing to the audience—it is about creating a memorable shared experience where everyone has a ton of fun.

A lifelong passion for nature and science, plus an Honors Bachelor of Science in Philosophy, plus a minor in Earth Science and an Honors minor in Ecology & Legacy, means that Milo has spent years and years of dedicated study in biology, paleontology, and philosophy and can think about them and their interrelations in careful and nuanced ways.

Show Options

Here is a collection of the different types of shows Milo offers:

Close-Up Magic

Milo has a 30-minute close-up card magic show great for small events. He is also a fantastic walk-around magician, which is perfect for large events where you’re looking for an entertainer to move between groups of people as they mingle.

Stage Magic

Milo offers both 30 and 45 minute interactive comedy magic stage shows. The former is best for smaller events without access to lapel mics and a sound system, while the latter is best for large events with a sound system. Both are designed to be entertaining both because the magic is inexplicable AND because it is full of ridiculous, silly moments that get the audience involved.

Ted-Style Talk

Milo offers a time-adjustable lecture titled, “Science Works, But It Doesn’t Know Everything (And Why You Shouldn’t Be Afraid)” that weaves together his knowledge of science with his thoughts on the philosophy of science and his deep love for the natural world. It can also (with some advance notice) can be subtly tailored to the purpose of your event.
